Norseman 2012 - Our 10 year anniversary!
Hardangervidda Triathlon Club is very proud to announce that for our 10th anniversary in 2012 we will arrange Norseman Xtreme Triathlon two days in a row.
Rural and alpine surroundings
Completing, managing and supporting the wolds toughest competition takes disipline and focus for all parties. This time we take a look at some of the traffic challenges we face with an event in Norwegian rural and alpine surroundings.
Food for thought...
This blog is does not focus exclusively on training - but it’s no less important for your performance and racing. What I’m talking about is nutrition… because even cars do not work without fuel. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen an athlete trying to lose weight in training by just drinking water. The old rule says… if all the carbohydrates are burned, we start to burn fat.
Wrong.
More hints and tips
This time we take a look at the advantages of reviewing the Race Manual.
Support or be supported?
This time we will focus on hints and tips for the support. The support team is a necessity for security purposes, but also an important part of the Norseman atmosphere and experience. We often hear the support team being just as enthusiastic about the Norseman weekend as the competitor, claiming that the experience was exciting, fun and strengthened friendship or family bands. So, you know who your support team is, which car to use and you have studied the race manual. What else is there to prepare for to be able to support your competitor all day - and to not end up the one who is being supported?
Understanding triathlon related injuries
Research project on musculoskeletal injury in ironman distance triathletes
These days two former Norseman competitors are launching a research project aiming to investigate the nature and causes of full distance triathlon related injury. Their final objective with this work is simply to help minimize the impact of injury in athletes seeking to reach their potential in the sport we love.
We welcome Tim DeBoom
Tim DeBoom has won the most sought endurance event on the planet, the Hawaiian Ironman World Championship, twice. But he's not finished yet.
Episode 2: Pack Your Bags
After 37,5 kilometres of the run you will reach Stavsro where the last healthcheck takes place, before you can start the climb to Gaustatoppen. The competitors will not be allowed to start the climb alone and have to bring a backpack containing the necessities for the last part of the race.
Jump
Have you ever heard Van Halen? Do you love the synthesizer at the start of the song Jump? Have you tattooed the words “I get up and nothing gets me down” on your forearm? Sure you have, cause that’s triathlon-inspired poetry at its best.
