Norseman mourns Norwegian tragedy

Norseman mourns Norwegian tragedy
Date 07/23/2011

Norwegians are mourning the victims of Friday's massacre at an island youth camp and a bombing in Oslo that took the lives of at least 92 people. We in the Norseman organization have taken in the news of these tragic events with deep sorrow, and our thoughts are with those involved and their loved ones.

One person has been arrested and charged for both atrocities. The government blocks in downtown Oslo have sustained massive structural damage and a major area of the city will remain cordoned off for some time. There has been no elevation of the general threat level, the situation is stabilizing and life is slowly coming back to normal. In a speech to the nation on Saturday, His Majesty King Harald encouraged everyone to take care of each other and to stay strong in the belief that freedom defeats fear.

In this spirit, we have decided that Norseman will take place as planned on August 6th. We know the endurance community is a small one and that a tragedy of this scope is bound to touch us. As events unfold and more information becomes available, we will let you know.
