Norseman Crew Race 2010

Norseman Crew Race 2010
Date 08/01/2010

The Crew behind Norseman don`t want to miss the action. Yesterday, 7 members of the Norseman Crew jumped into the magic Hardanger Fiord and had one main goal for the day: To survive and maybe get a black Finisher shirt!

The race was brutally hard, as it should be. The waves in the fiord was actually great surfing. One of the participants; Irene, have been training for finishing Norseman in a long time. When she started out training for the swim, she was actually only able to do 3 crawlstrokes before the fiord was quite empty. Irene have no problems with dehydration!

Crew race is a bit lonely. You don`t see many people along the road. Rolf (race director) and Irene was following each other at the bike leg, with Stein Frode 20 k in front of them. Stein Frode and Rolf did reach the cut off time and did get a black Finisher shirt!
And Irene managed to get a white Finisher shirt. A great performance after swallowing the entire Hardanger Fiord!

In front of the race, Fredrik was alone most of the day, with Øyvind, Martin and Halvor chasing behind. Øyvind and Martin are certainly a really good friend of Halvor, they waited for him in 40 minutes in T1. Øyvind did get a cap to his two friends at the run and placed second in 13 h 10 minutes. Martin and Halvor crossed the finishline together in 13 h 39 min!

Fredrik showed his great potential and finished at new personal best 12 h 29 min. And he was also the first athlete ever who have been sent down halfway up the mountain because of really bad weather!

We also want to thank our support teams for great work during the long day!

Now we relax, but next Saturday we will do our best to do your day unforgettable!
